| Subject: Will the Hospital take over the Ortonville Ambulance? Sun Nov 15, 2009 8:49 am | |

12. New Business... c. Approve Advertisement for Ambulance Director Position Why is the Ortonville City Council not looking into merging the Ambulance with the Hospital.? ... ... ... The hospital is under construction. Why doesn't it build on a garage for the Ambulance to operate out of the hospital? I was told that there was an offer to the ambulance but it was refused. Why does the city pay extra to run the ambulance when the hospital is run in the black and there is no loss to the community? Why does the Ambulance go to Big Stone City and ask for money when the hospital can run it profitably without taking money out of Big Stone City's public funds? Is the Ortonville Ambulance being mismanaged and are they trying to compensate for it by getting money from Big Stone City? Is Big Stone City being asked to pay for Ortonville's financial irresponsibility? Who is in charge? Who is keeping the Ambulance under the direction of the City Council instead of under the supervision of the hospital? Why? I have heard where the ambulance was called out and it took 20 minutes to respond. Is that true? The response time is supposed to be 5 minutes. Is anyone supervising the activity of the ambulance? Are there any reports of response times and competence? We have a Police Commission. Do we have an Ambulance Commission? Peoples lives area at stake here. What is the city council going to do about the ambulance? Will they put it under the supervision of the hospital? Will they make an Ambulance Commission? Why is the Ortonville City Council holding on to it? Is the Ambulance political? There will need to be budget cuts. Good government recognizes waste and corrects it. It will be interesting watching the Ortonville City Council justify budgeting the Ambulance when the hospital can operate it at NO COST to the city. What excuse do you think the city council will come up with to explain that away? | |
