| The Upper Dakota Forensic League held their annual debate and individual event contest at Milbank High School on December 11-12. Schools who are members of the conference are Aberdeen Central, Brookings, Deuel, Groton, Milbank, and Watertown.
In the experienced policy debate division, Amanda Lambrechts and Natasha Hartman caputred the conference championship with a 3-0 record and high points. Teams from Brookings placed 2nd and 3rd also with perfect records.
In the novice policy debate division, Emma Christensen and Mackezie Foss were affirmative and Cheyenne Voeltz and Kylie Hagen were negative. Voeltz and Hagen finished 2-1 but the foursome did not place in the top three.
In LD Debate, Jesse Nelson was entered but did not place in the top three.
Several MHS students won awards in individual events. In B Extemp, John Ward took the fourth place award. Other entries were Katie Loutsch, Jesse Nelson, and Rebecca Schrupp. Brent Seehafer captured third place in Serious Drama while Nathaniel Steinlicht and Allwin McDonald also were third in Duo Interp. Amanda Lambrechts was entered in A Oratory while Tim Whelan, Cheyenne Voeltz, Kylie Hagen, and Mackenzie Foss were entered in B Oratory. Jeremy DeVaal was fourth in Humorous Interp. In Novice Interp Nathaniel Steinlight and Rebecca Schrupp tied for fifth while 4th went to Allwin McDonald. Third place was won by Katie Loutsch.
This Tuesday is a novice Individual Events contest in Watertown and Friday and Saturday is the Bell Debate and Individual Events at Brookings. | |
