This reporter has personally been on the roads this morning and is of the opinion that travel is marginal in town. Snow removal equipment is active in all three of the communities, Big Stone City, Ortonville and Milbank. Businesses are trying to open and probably will be open by late this morning.

Food-n-Fuel in Milbank and the Convenience Stores in Ortonville are open.

Hwy 12 between Big Stone City and Milbank is ice packed and traffic is slow. You can make it between the communities but do not take any unnecessary risks.

Be careful! The crews have done an excellent job given the circumstances but do not get in their way.

PostSubject: Winter Travel   Sun Dec 27, 2009 3:21 pm

I tried to venture out earlier this morning -- the roads are ice covered and travel is awful. Snow was also blowing across the roads. We had relatives come from Fargo this morning -- roads are bad in that direction. Another family member came from Montevideo and it was not too bad until they hit Appleton -- and it got worse the closer to Ortonville they got.

Take care!
