| While suturing a cut on the hand of a 75 year old rancher whose hand was caught in a gate while working cattle, the doctor struck up a conversation with the old man. Eventually the topic got around to Obama and his role as our president. The old rancher said, "Well, Ya know, Obama is a 'post turtle' . . ." Not being familiar with the term, the doctor asked him what a 'post turtle' was. The old rancher said, "When you're driving down a country road and you come across a fence post with a turtle balanced on top, that's a post turtle." The old rancher saw the puzzled look on the doctor's face so he continued to explain. "You know he didn't get up there by himself, he doesn't belong up there, he doesn't know what to do while he's up there, and you just wonder what kind of idiot put him up there to begin with." | |

| This is in the What's Going on in the Internet. It may or may not be my view.
The last sentence though is key,
"you just wonder what kind of idiot put him up there to begin with"
We as the voters put him there and we are responsible. This is what happens when the masses are uninformed.

| You are right to post it where you did. Thanks. How would we (the idiotic public)have been better or more informed in this information age. It was said often in the days leading up to Obama's nomination that people wished that he could get another 8 years experience at the national level before he ran for the Presidency. I agree.
He ran a solid race (after a rough start) in the primaries and caucuses. His main opposition (Hilary Clinton) was (IMO) viewed as too polarizing by the Democratic factions. Do you think she would have beat McCain? So Obama honed his focus in the last days and beat Clinton through smart politics. McCain running on the tails of a failed republican presidency was overmatched against Obama. The country begged for change and didn't feel they would get it with McCain. President Obama's lack of political experience is now showing. His agenda is unpalatable to any of the Republicans and he has no clear cut rock solid support in any of the Democratic factions. I think that this President would have faced tough sledding even if the not faced with a recession, a couple of wars, and the terrorism threat. If he can somehow separate himself from Reid/Pelosi and find some firm footing with his constituency I think he could still salvage some real successes. It will be interesting to sit back and watch.
