Milbank Forensics Capture First Place in Watertown

The Milbank Forensics squad celebrated the Halloween weekend by claiming the 1st place Pumpkin in Class A Sweepstakes at the annual Pumpkinstakes hosted by Watertown High School on October 30th. Milbank scored 111 points while Tea area was 2nd with 103
Milbank speakers did exceptionally well in novice extemp as both Nathaniel Steinlicht and Rachel Johannsen advanced to the final round. Nathaniel took the championship while Rachel was the runner-up in the division. Dezmond Ward was recognized at the awards ceremony as well as he scored a perfect 60 points out of the 60 possible in discussion.
Other competitors who scored points for the MHS squad were Timothy Whelan in Varsity Extemp; Seth McDonald and Katie Loutsch in Novice Extemp; Tori Hopkins and Morgan Jones in Serious Drama; Taylor Frevert, Katie Loutsch and Rebecca Weiting in Serious Prose; Taylor Welberg in Humorous Interp and Poetry; Sierra Baumgart and Audrey Souza, Morgan Jones and Taylor Frevert in Duet Interp;; and Nathaniel Steinlicht, Seth McDonald, and Dylan Fox in Oratory Interp. Competing in Discussion were Jacob Erickson, Michael Miller, Allsin McDonald, Kaset Schmidt, and Rebecca Schrupp.
