PostSubject: Sanitary System surcharge   Wed Dec 17, 2008 2:48 pm

Isn't it interesting that the Ortonville city council {not all of its members} finds it okay to take $2,000 from the Sanitary System fund to donate to the Chamber for main street Christmas decorations, after their decision to place a surcharge on us for the Sanitary System, purportedly because they needed to raise more money for its maintenance/upkeep. Something is wrong with this picture. We're charged more because there isn't enough money in the fund to take care of itself, yet now there's a surplus that makes it okay for them to take money out of Sanitary and send it to the Chamber and, earlier, to the golf course. Keep in mind that these guys are minding the store for us during the onset of some very critical economic downturns. And it isn't over yet...just wait until the state takes away a significant portion of local government aid. It'll be interesting to see what our "spending" leaders decide to do.
