Welcome to the Big Stone Lake Area Community Forums and thank you so much for stopping by. My name is Liberty and I put together the Big Stone Lake Area Community Forums as a 4-H computer project for the fair this year.

Before I go on to explain the purpose of the Big Stone Lake Area Community forums, I'm going to paste this little snippet from wikipedia explaining what an online forum is.

Quote Wikipedia: An Internet forum is a web application for holding discussions and posting user-generated content. Internet forums are also commonly referred to as Web forums, message boards, discussion boards, (electronic) discussion groups, discussion forums, bulletin boards or simply forums. The terms "forum" and "board" may refer to the entire community or to a specific sub-forum dealing with a distinct topic. Messages within these sub-forums are then displayed either in chronological order or as threaded discussions. End Quote.

Working for the radio station (KDIO) I see so many different aspects of our communities. The schools, the volunteer programs, the clubs, the businesses, and of course the many events, performances and concerts that are coming up. Putting everything all together in one place for everyone to access was an opportunity to good to pass up.

But the Big Stone lake Area Community Forums isn't just a news stand, the Big Stone Lake Area Community Forums is also a place where Lake Area Citizens from South Dakota and Minnesota can come and discuss everything about our communities as well as state there opinions on things happening in the area.

This isn't a blog, a blog (an abridgment of the term web log) is a website, usually maintained by an individual, or groups of individuals, with regular entries of commentary and descriptions of events. A forum on the other hand, is a discussion board (as described above) where people have the opportunity to address the topics that they want discussed.

Anyone related to the Big Stone Lake Area is more than welcome, and indeed encouraged to join. We look forward to hearing from you.
