| How much are we spending on economic development? If you include the budget of the golf course, the Chamber of Commerce expenditures and the Concert this past summer and other related items are we spending over $100,000 per year on economic development? Where are Cunningham, Anderson and Johnson? | |

| Finally we have a council willing to invest in economic development! Way to go! This past year the Chamber did a great job hosting a big name historic concert that injected a little life in the area! They also managed to make a little money to invest in promoting the Big Stone Lake Area! Nice job chamber staff! We need to also recognize the great job the council and EDA have done by investing over 20 Million into our health care facilities which currently is Ortonvilles largest employer of over 200 above average paying jobs! Nice work! The EDA has also played a big part in facilitating Hardware Hank, Subway, Fitness First, the Columbian, Snortums and a few other existing business in the creation or expansion of jobs and business in the Ortonville area! Next time you see any of these comm. members on the street, tell them "Good Job"! | |

| Just needed to fix the facts on my recent post of: "Finally we have a council willing to invest in economic development! Way to go! Next time you see any of these comm. members on the street, tell them "Good Job"!" After talking with the Chamber I wanted to share with everyone that there is actually 10 new businesses in the Big Stone Lake Area within the last year. If Big Stone 2 would go through it seems there is some momentum in Economic Development! | |

The picture is actually bigger than that. The largest employer in Ortonville is......The City of Ortonville. The City of Ortonville owns the Ortonville Hospital, the Northside Medical Center, Northridge Residence, Fairway View, the ambulance, the airport, the golf course, and the usual things that are normally part of a city government like the police, street, maintenance, parks, office help etc, and the list goes on. (I imagine that would also include the Clinton Clinic. That's impressive for the growth of the City of Ortonville to expand its influence in to Clinton, MN.) When you factor in the county, state, and federal agencies therein you come to the undeniable conclusion that Ortonville is really a government town. | |
