The next meeting for the local foods group is Monday, March 2 at 5 pm at the Countryside Public Health Community Room in Ortonville. All are welcome. Our last meeting was held on February 16. If anyone would like a full copy of the meeting notes, let me know.

At the last meeting we discussed efforts toward establishing a certified community kitchen, promoting and improving the farmers' market, the opportunities and challenges of developing a centralized grower-to-user local foods network, and the importance of education to help people find, produce and use local foods.

Below is a list of some upcoming events. If anyone else knows of any other local foods workshops/meetings/conferences etc., please post.

A Garden Season Extension Seminar featuring Carol Ford and Chuck Weibel, owners of the Garden Goddess Greenhouse in Milan, will be held on February 23 at the Kandiyohi Health & Human Services Building in Willmar.

The Land Stewardship Project will be holding public meetings discussing the 2008 Farm Bill, and what it means to rural communities, on March 11 at the Countryside Public Health Community Room in Ortonville.

The 3rd Annual Home Grown Economy Conference will be held April 16-17, at Southwest State University in Marshall, Minnesota.

Thanks -
Joanne Sv.

Thanks Joanne for the information. Did you put the events on the calendar?

All you have to do is when you make your post below the "Send" button is a bar that says "Calendar" if your bar is not open then click on the little white "+" sign on the far right side. The bar will open and you can click on the day, month, and year. When you hit send then the post you have made will be put on the calendar.

Since you already made your post you can still put it on the calendar by clicking the "edit" button. On Computer
