| Subject: Moose Roaming Around Fargo, Closes Downtown Area Wed Oct 14, 2009 8:38 am | |
| FARGO - A moose on the loose in south Fargo has prompted the attention of area police, who are asking the public to stay away.
The moose, approximately 1 to 2 years old, is hanging out near a tree in a grassy courtyard area between MainStay Suites and Sleep Inn near 45th Street South and 19th Avenue.
The police have called upon the Red River Zoo and Valley Veterinarian Clinic for help, Fargo Police Sgt. Jason Nelson said.
A livestock trailer arrived on scene at 8:15 a.m. and officers are hoping to tranquilize the moose.
The moose is contained in the area by police, who have cleared the area of people.
"The size and temperament of moose make them a significant public safety risk in an urban setting," Sgt. Jeff Skuza said in a news release this morning. "Currently this one is contained and shows no sign of trying to leave as we work to resolve the situation. We are asking the public to stay clear of the area." | |
