The Milbank Forensic Squad attended the annual Golden Eagle Cup debate and speech contest hosted by Aberdeen Central on 11-13/14. Fifteen schools competed in the event. Milbank finished in second place in the Class A sweepstakes race behind Vermillion.
Four MHS students advanced to the final round in the individual events portion of the contest. Sarah Miller won second place in Serious Plays while Natasha Hartman was fifth in the same event. Jeremy DeVaal was fifth in Humorous. Jesse Nelson competed in novice extemp for the first time and captured the third place award. Others competing in individual events were Nathaniel Steinlicht, Allwin McDonald, Brent Seehafer, Rebecca Schrupp, Katie Loutsch, Amanda Lambrechts, Rachel Johannsen, Mitch Wagner, Josh Grabow, John Ward, Brock Rudebusch, and Jacob Manlove.
In Debate, Josh Grabow and Jesse Nelson competed in Lincoln/Douglas Debate. John Ward, Brenna Rausch, Brent Seehafer, Mitch Wagner, and Jacob Manlove debated in the Public Forum division while policy debaters included Rebecca Schrupp, Tori Hopkins, Katie Loutsch, Jessica Dornbusch, Brandi Neidert, Brock Rudebusch, Courtney Trapp, Sierra Baumgarte, and Audrey Souza.
