| It is very difficult to be two places at a time but your meeting is important and I would like to know what you discussed and how did the meeting go? | |

| Subject: how did the GCCC meeting go? Sun Apr 12, 2009 9:17 pm | |
| What has the GCCC decided to set it's sites on next? I hope that some mention was made on how to support the watershed study of the Whetstone that we will get if we are lucky. Getting some baseline samples that are completely credible with EPA, environmental groups, etc. is the basics a watershed needs so that we can preserve it's quality for the next generation. Is GCCC going to try and stop transmission lines for the Summit Wind project? Will it be protesting GMO crops? Is it no longer an open book group? | |

| We announce our meetings on this site and in the paper, so we are pretty transparent. | |

| Just a reminder that the Grant County Concerned Citizens Meeting will be at the Twin Brooks Community Center, 8pm. Monday May 4th. The last few meetings we have been talking about what happened in Pierre. Two of our members spent a lot of time there working on an amendment to 11-2-28. While we did not get everything we wanted, the dead people are still on there for example, we are glad that the percentage of signatures was lowered from 30% to 20%. Actually the incremental change was propbobly good because the governor would have probobly vetoed it otherwise. But we will be back. And the law change comes on July 1st. We are also discussing education about family farming, from very small to medium, both organic and conventional. We covered a few other topics but not in depth. Our focus is to keep farmland and farming possible for our young farmers who want to truly family farm. | |

| GCCC had a meeting a week ago. Quite a lot of people, about 50-60 and there were people from all over the county. We had a chance to listen to what people from around the area thought about several issues, mostly the setback issue. Great meeting. | |
