| DETROIT LAKES, Minn. — Motorists will experience delays due to detours while traveling on Highway 75 when a resurfacing project between Ortonville and Graceville begins May 4. The project is one of nearly 100 Minnesota road and bridge projects that will be funded with $502 million in federal economic stimulus dollars. Highway 75 through traffic will be detoured between Ortonville and Clinton using Highway 12, Big Stone County Road 21 and Big Stone County Road 6 for approximately three weeks beginning May 4. A second Highway 75 detour between Clinton and Graceville will begin upon the removal of the first detour. Through-traffic will be detoured using Big Stone County Road 6, Big Stone County Road 21 and Big Stone County Road 28 for approximately five weeks. Following each detour, crews will finish paving the detoured section under traffic. The work will require lane closures with flaggers and pilot cars guiding motorists through the work zone. Work on the project will occur Monday through Friday and some Saturdays, and is scheduled to be completed in mid-July, weather permitting. The Minnesota Department of Transportation urges motorists to always drive with caution, slow down in work zones and never enter a roadway that has been blocked with barriers or cones. | As of Thursday (5/7/09) they are busy in the section from hilltop area to the diagonal road. They had ripped up what they needed to and were putting the first layer of tar down on one side of the highway. It's a trick to get to the Cenex store (not to mention the school bus garage, the bowling alley and other businesses). But, hopefully they'll get it done quickly and move north. If you go out on hwy 12 be aware they are filling in the cracks on that road, so you WILL encounter flag men and be down to one lane for brief periods..hopefully they will be done shortly. nascargirl | |

| Some years, we get only two seasons -- Winter and road repair. This is not one of them -- what a beautiful Spring we have been given this year! | |
