Pumpkinstakes results

Milbank High school speakers competed at the annual Pumpkinstakes on
Halloween. The contest is hosted by Watertown High School. In discussion,
three Milbank students won awards. John Ward and Seth Phillips each received
Pumpkinstakes mugs and the traditional pumpkins for scoring perfect 60 points of
a possible 60 in discussion. Emma Christensen also was recognized at awards for
scoring 59 of 60. Several students just missed the cut off mark of 58 for
awards. In the superior speaking range were Timothy Whelan, Courtney Trapp,
Brock Rudebusch, Rebecca Schrupp, Bailey Slaby, and Ryan Hepper. Other
discussants included Audrey Souza, Brandi Neidert, Tori Hopkins, Bailey Neidert,
Rachel Johannsen, Sierra Baumgaard, Austin Behrens, and Dezmond Ward.

Amanda Lambrechts advanced to the final round of original oratory where she
finished fifth. She also competed in non-original oratory while Natasha Hartman
competed in drama.
