What an amazing story. Five years ago a brother and sister ( then 12 and 13) heard about a soldier in Iraq who had an $8,000.00 phone bill from calling home. They went to their piggy bank and pulled out their savings of $25.00. Not stopping there they had bake sales and car washes to raise money to help pay his bill.
Then they came upon the idea of collecting old cell phones and recycling them. They get around $5.00 per phone. So far they have raised over a million dollars from old cell phones and cash donations. ATT has joined them and there are collection boxes all around the country.
I'm gonna go dig out my old cell phones and turn them in.
