Prices of raw milk on the Chicago Board of Trades dropped to $9.50 per hundred weight this past week compared to prices almost $20 per hundred weight higher just a year ago.

The reason for the decline was slow economic activity and better conditions in New Zealand and Australia.

Northeastern South Dakota is definitely feeling this pinch and the producers are struggling and reducing herd size to reduce expenses.
