The election is coming up in November. Up for this election are three city council seats and mayor. The positions that are open are:

Mayor Blair Johnson
Councilman Nick Anderson
Councilman Bob Meyer
Councilman Dick Powell

It will be interesting to see who runs. One always has to be careful of people running under false colors. This forum is open to any candidates who want to state their position and should be willing to answer questions from the public.

City Clerk/Administrator David Lang is in charge of the election. Tuesday, August 11, 2009 is the last day to publish notice for filing. That is two weeks before they are open for people to file. The city must post notice of filing period by August 14, 2009 giving 10 days notice before the filing is open.

Candidate filing period starts on Tuesday, August 25th, 2009 and ends at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 08, 2009 at the city office located at 217 NW Third Street, Suite 101. There are only two weeks open to apply for candidacy. any qualified voter of the City of Ortonville may file for candidacy by filing an affidavit of Candidacy (available at the City Office) and paying a filing fee of $2.00 to the City of Ortonville.

Good, decent, honest citizens need to step up to the plate and serve the community.

You can see the city Charter regarding elections below.
