About Jim Gilkerson
• Past president of the Brookings County Farm Bureau.
• Served on the South Dakota Farm Bureau Board of Directors for 6 years.

South Dakota Farm Bureau is a member organization of Ag United for South Dakota. South Dakota Farm Bureau president Scott VanderWal is president of Ag United for South Dakota. I asked some questions to Ag United for South Dakota executive director Steve Dick and president Scott VanderWal and got whitewash and no answers from them.

Jim, answer the questions I asked Steve Dick and Scott VanderWal.

I have some more questions for Jim to answer.

Was the Family Farm Act of 1974 right?

Was Amendment E of 1998 right?

Was Amendment A of 2002 wrong?

Was the South Dakota Supreme Court decision declaring Amendment E unconstitutional right?

Should the Family Farm Act of 1974 be amended so as to be nullified?

Was 2006 South Dakota Senate Bill 122 An Act to exempt certain breeding stock animals, products, and facilities from certain corporate farming restrictions right?

Was 2008 South Dakota Senate Bill 173 An act to exempt certain dairies from the restrictions of the Family Farm Act right?

The Concerned Citizens of Grant County would like to have a petition to have an initiative. They are told they have to get signatures of at least 30% of the owners of non-municipal land in Grant County even if they don’t reside in Grant County but only those owners who reside in Grant County would be allowed to vote in an election.

Do you think that is fair?

And if Concerned Citizens of Grant County gets enough signatures, there is no guarantee there will be an election.

Do you think that is fair?
