The office hours for the Lac qui Parle County Veterans Service Office are 8:30 am - 4:30 pm Monday through Friday. My office phone number is (320) 598-3445.

FLASH NEWS! Make sure to attend Dawson's 125th Celebration on the weekend of June 26, 27, and 28. On Saturday, the 27th, I will have a Veterans Benefit Booth at Veterans Park in Dawson, from 10:00 am until 6:00 pm. Please stop by to get VA benefit information that pertains to veterans and their family members. In addition, I'll be setting up office appointments for those who need to discuss their possible benefits with me in a private/confidential setting.

Minnesota Secretary of State Mark Ritchie suggestes a valuable resource available from his office that offers information about flag etiquette.

"The flag is one of this country's most enduring symbols of liberty and justice for all and must be handled respectfully," said Ritchie. "When celebrating Flag Day on June 14 or Independence Day on July 4 this summer, we have a great opportunity to teach our younger generations about flag etiquette. This brochure is an important resource that assists in the area of civic education."

A Guide to Flag Etiquette is available free by e-mailing the Office of the Secretary of State at secretary.state@state.mn.us or by calling 651-201-1324. Quantities are available for distribution to groups and classrooms. The brochure is also available online, at http://www.sos.state.mn.us/docs/flag_brochure_final_2009.pdf.

In other news. MDVA launches new web-based event calander.

Until next week, take care and "Fair winds and following seas!"
