Highway 12 bridge replacement Empty
PostSubject: Highway 12 bridge replacement   Highway 12 bridge replacement Icon_minitimeFri Jul 31, 2009 8:29 am

I received an email from Representative Falk announcing the replacement of the Highway 12 bridge over the Minnesota River. Other projects were listed, including the work that is already done from Ortonville to Graceville, but there is no date listed for the bridge replacement.

Does anyone know how old it is?? My dad said it might have been built in the 1950's??

Have you read how long it will take to complete? That is a larger bridge than the dike road and that took long enough.

I wonder if they will direct traffic to the dike road. Would the dike road be able to handle that kind of traffic with all the semi trucks? Is there another possible detour route available?

You wouldn't think that they would reroute traffic to the dike road during the winter beccause sometimes that dike road is treacherous when the wind and snow comes blasting down the lake.

I haven't heard how long it would take. The dike road is the best possibility for a detour that I can think of. Would be interesting to see all those semi's in the downtown area. Of course they could have people take the scenic route around the lake. HA!

Check out the DOT bridge report: http://www.dot.state.mn.us/i35wbridge/statewide_inspections/inspection-report-d4.pdf

I don't imagine that they would route traffic up to the main street. At least you wouldn't do that with the semi-trucks. They could take the lower road along Hartman's Super Valu and Cenbank.

The downtown businesses would probably like to have all the traffic go through the downtown. It would be good for them. wahoo
